Chronic skin problems

More than half a million Spanish women under 55 years of age suffer from chronic skin problems.

More than half a million Spanish women under 55 years of age suffer from chronic skin problems. The skin, our largest organ, becomes the epicenter of various pathologies, and the data revealed by 2020 European Health Survey , analyzed by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), reveals a shocking reality. More than half a million Spanish women under 55 years of age face chronic skin problems, the most common conditions being psoriasis, rosacea and vitiligo, among others.

The Impact differentiated by age

When exploring the statistics, a close relationship emerges between age and the prevalence of skin diseases. Women ages 45 to 54 top the list, with 186,900 diagnosed cases, followed by those ages 35 to 44, with 125,000 cases. Young women, between 25 and 34 years old, are not exempt, totaling 135,400 cases. Even the youngest, between 15 and 24 years old, face 98,200 cases, pointing out that skin problems do not discriminate by age.

Skin diseases in maturity and old age

Women in the 55 to 64 age group show 146,500 cases, while those between 65 and 74 years old face nearly 100,000 cases. Intriguingly, the only group where men surpass women in chronic skin pathologies is between 75 and 84 years old, with 96,200 men affected, compared to 77,400 women.

These data reveal a shocking reality: the skin, at all stages of life, is subject to various challenges. Now, it is essential to look beyond the statistics and consider the factors that could contribute to this worrying picture. An important starting point is the relationship between the use of inappropriate detergents and soaps and skin health.

Research suggests that constant use of cleaning products, detergents and cosmetic soaps that contain irritating ingredients can trigger or exacerbate skin problems. The skin, being our shield against the environment, deserves special attention. Opting for gentle, fragrance-free products designed to maintain the skin's pH balance could make all the difference. For this reason, Home Healthy Home has created an entire line of laundry and cosmetic soaps specially formulated for sensitive skin.

In conclusion, beyond the statistics, it is imperative to approach skin care from a holistic perspective. Understanding the needs of skin at different stages of life and choosing appropriate products are crucial steps towards healthy, resilient skin.
