Ana Freixa, founder of the Maas brand
In a cozy corner over a freshly brewed coffee, we spoke with Ana Freixa, the creative and entrepreneurial mind behind Maas. Ana is more than just the founder of a brand; she's passionate about responsible design, sustainability, and well-being. In this conversation, we discover how her personal values intertwine with every product she launches and how Maas Colors has become a symbol of authenticity and commitment.
Through their words, we'll explore the foundations of their project, their philosophy, and the style that defines their brand. We'll also analyze the connections between Maas Colors and Home Healthy Home, both brands committed to nature, artisanal care, and a responsible approach to consumption.
What inspired you to create Maas? How did it all begin?
The truth is, I've always sewn. My grandmother taught me how to sew, and it's always been a kind of therapy for me. So, in the midst of the pandemic and with so many hours to fill, I spent a lot of time knitting. I've worked in the events world my whole life, so you can imagine the change: I went from frenetic activity to absolute calm. And since I can't sit still, I started knitting even more.
At a family meal, the question arose: what if we turned this dream into a family project? My husband, my daughter, my mother, and I were there. The four of us pledged to contribute our part to an adventure that, that very day, already had a name: MAAS . María, Ana, Ana, and Sergio.
What is the core philosophy behind Maas, and how is it reflected in each collection?
It's reflected in our slogan: "WE RECOVER THE VALUE OF THINGS MADE BY HAND." We believe in the same old things.
How would you describe Maas's style? What aesthetic values do you try to capture in your clothes?
Is there a specific style in your design that sets you apart in the market?

Like Home Healthy Home, your products seem to reflect a commitment to natural wellness and personal care. How do you see the connection between the two brands?
Home Healthy Home is also a brand that focuses on natural ingredients and an artisanal process. What's your take on the importance of these characteristics today?
Do you think there's a growing demand for products that prioritize both ethical manufacturing and customer well-being?
What are Maas's initiatives regarding sustainability, both in the use of materials and in production?
We use vegan and locally sourced materials. We buy everything in Barcelona and collaborate exclusively with local weavers. We work with women who have dedicated their lives to weaving, some as a hobby and others professionally. Upon reaching retirement, many of them have found themselves not only with limited resources, but also lacking a passion that made them feel useful. For them, MAAS has been a breath of fresh air.
